are you eligible to apply?

Make sure you're qualified. You must:

  • Complete a college degree by summer 2024.
  • Hold a teaching certification or obtain one through our program the summer before you enter the classroom.
  • Apply and get hired for a teaching position in Monongalia or Preston County.
  • Currently reside outside of West Virginia, then relocate to the state to teach in Monongalia or Preston County.

Make the most of continued educational opportunities through WVU programs. 

Take advantage of a 6-credit hour tuition scholarship. That's $4,050 in tuition assistance. 

Bonus Perk +

You may also qualify and apply for an additional 15 hours of tuition waivers through the WV Department of Education. Awards are offered for eligible educators on a first-come, first-serve basis. 

Pursing additional certifications or a master's degree is not required to join the program, it's simply a perk.

Option 1:

If you’re an aspiring teacher with a bachelor’s degree without a teacher certification, you must complete an initial certification through the WVU School of Education (6 credits) in the summer prior to the start of employment. 

After receiving your initial certification, you can also pursue a master’s degree as outlined below.

Option 2:

If you have a bachelor’s degree and an initial certification, you are invited to pursue a master’s degree through the WVU’s College of Applied Human Sciences or the John Chambers College of Business and Economics. You can also chart your own path.

We’re offering a space for you to forge lifelong friendships, make memories and embark on unforgettable experiences. Within your cohort, we’ll set up special trips around the state, organize weeknight social gatherings, connect you with community service projects and offer co-working space so you can debrief on best teaching practices. And we’ll connect you with locals to integrate you into the fabric of the community.

Solo and group activities in kayaking, climbing, mountain biking, rafting, ziplining, skiing, family adventures, backpacking, flatwater paddling, concert going and more can be part of your daily dose of fun.

MENTORSHIP

We know how important it is to build connections among educators, expand your professional network, foster leadership skills and simply have that extra layer of support in and out of the classroom. You'll be paired with an experienced mentor who can provide coaching and support throughout the program.

GET PAID

You’ll receive $6,000 over the course of the program. To help make the move to West Virginia as smooth as possible, we’ll send you $2,000 up front to help cover initial moving and rent costs. The remaining $4,000 will be paid out monthly over the two years of the program.
