Building Literacy Leaders is an intensive professional development project focusing on instructional practices and innovations for kindergarten, first and second grade teachers. Building upon support from the West Virginia Department of Education, the June Harless Center at Marshall University, West Virginia University’s College of Education and Human Resources, and the Campaign for Grade Level Reading, the Pocahontas County instructional team will design professional development combining The Lesson Study Model and The Science of Reading.
