Michele L. Blatt is the 34th State Superintendent of Schools in West Virginia. She provides strategic leadership to implement the West Virginia Department of Education’s (WVDE) goals.
Superintendent Blatt has enjoyed a distinguished career in education with more than 30 years of experience as a teacher, principal, and supervisor. Her professional focus has centered on turning around low-performing schools, supporting district leadership, and providing a variety of strategies and resources to meet the individual needs of students.
She has built relationships across the state serving as the liaison between the WVDE and state legislators, county superintendents, and leaders of various organizations and associations. Superintendent Blatt received the Civilian Award for Humanitarian Service from the Department of the Army for her role on the Joint Interagency Taskforce during the pandemic.
Superintendent Blatt’s devotion to supporting every child’s well-being and success has been a guiding motivation throughout her career.
