Executive Director - Rural School and Community Trust; President - Organizations Concerned about Rural Education; Vice Chairman - Coalition for Community Schools
Robert Mahaffey is the Executive Director of the Rural School and Community Trust, the premier national advocacy organization dedicated to helping rural schools and communities grow better together. Previously, Mr. Mahaffey served as Vice President of Communications at New American Schools, Publisher and Communications Director for the National Association of Secondary School Principals, and Vice President of External Relations at the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare.
In 2011, he was elected President of the Organizations Concerned about Rural Education (OCRE), a national coalition of agriculture, education, technology, community development, and utility organizations dedicated to providing a quality education for all rural children, as well as securing the economic future of rural America.
Mr. Mahaffey is a resident of West Virginia, where he is a certified substitute teacher. He has a BS degree in Political Science and English from Brigham Young University and a Masters degree in Management from the University of Maryland.
