Dr. Erika Klose is the Director of the Office of PK-12 Academic Support at the West Virginia Department of Education. A trained geologist, she is a former president of the West Virginia Science Teachers Association and middle school science teacher. Klose is a National Board Certified Teacher. In 2017, she received the Milken Educator Award and the Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching. Klose graduated from Smith College with a degree in geology and a MS in geophysics from Lehigh University. When she entered education, she completed an MA in Teaching followed by an Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Marshall University.
