Assistant Director in the Office of Middle and Secondary Learning for the West Virginia Department of Education
Erika Klose is an Assistant Director in the Office of Middle and Secondary Learning for the West Virginia Department of Education, where she coordinates STEM, GIS, and Computer Science, in addition to other initiatives. A trained geologist, she is the current president of the West Virginia Science Teachers Association. Klose recently completed ten years teaching seventh grade science. Klose is a National Board Certified Teacher. In 2017, she received the Milken Educator Award.
Klose graduated from Smith College with a degree in geology and a MS in geology and geophysics from Lehigh University. When she entered education, she completed a MAT at Marshall University and is currently pursuing an Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Marshall University.
